It's the Little Things that Count |
|
Most people wander through Williamsburg's Historic District looking at the big things -- you know, the imposing architecture, the cupolas atop colonial buildings, the horse-drawn carriages making their way up and down Dog Street, the many costumed interpreters -- and these things are all wonderful in their own right. But to me it is the little things that make history come alive. My eye is drawn to the more subtle hints of what life must have been like in Eighteenth Century Colonial America. Here are a few examples of what I am talking about. Perhaps they will inspire you to find some of your own little treasures on your next walk down Williamsburg's memory lane.
