~An Example of the Impact of Urban Development

on a Forest Understory~

Something must be done to control GROWTH and the resulting urban sprawl that is changing the face of America. Current and proposed development plans must be revisited before wildlife habitats are destroyed, community water supplies are depleted, and our precious greenspace is lost forever.

A CASE IN POINT: the citizens of Dunnellon, Florida watched in dismay as the Rainbow River Ranch property on the pristine Rainbow River was sold off to an out-of-state developer who began clear-cutting almost immediately. See the effects of this clear-cutting in three parts below.

For local information contact Burt Eno, President, Rainbow River Conservation, Inc., citizen protectors of the Rainbow River Watershed.
